Our Mission: Mental Health, Resilience, Capability

About

Our Story

For over a decade, grassroots community work, youth outreach, and passionate advocacy drove our mission informally. In March 2026, this long-standing commitment was officially codified with the registration of FMYS. Founded by media professional and advocate Destiny Amaka, FMYS uses unique social and anthropological insights to address the deeper issues modern youth face. We don’t just preach wellbeing, we build structural systems that support it.

Our Goal

Transitioning young minds from simply surviving to actively thriving.

Our Achievement

A decade of grassroots youth advocacy and juvenile justice reform.

Our Mission

Connecting youth to holistic wellbeing through raw education, mentorship, and community empowerment.

Our Dream

A continent where mental wellness and financial literacy are accessible rights for every youth.

Our Founder

12 Years of Storytelling. One Mission.

Destiny Amaka is a Nigerian media personality, actress, and youth wellbeing advocate with over a decade of influence across radio, television, and digital platforms.

From hosting on Cool FM Nigeria to appearing on Wazobia Max TV, Destiny has built a reputation for sparking bold conversations around relationships, sexuality, and personal growth. Her work in sexual health advocacy began on radio through her popular segment “Freaky Friday,” where she helped young Africans separate fact from fiction about sex and wellbeing.

Today, through her foundation For My Younger Self, Destiny leads youth-focused initiatives that create safe spaces for honest conversations around self-love, boundaries, and mental wellness. Whether behind a microphone, on stage, or collaborating with global brands, Destiny’s work sits at the intersection of culture, wellness, and social impact.

What We Stand For

Holistic Growth

We raise money for mental wellness treatment, training in financial literacy, and physical health as interconnected pieces of human success.

Radical Authenticity

Safe spaces only. We talk about real struggles to deliver practical, life-saving solutions.

Youth Empowerment

Shifting young individuals from a state of simply surviving to actively thriving.

Milestones in our Commitment to Change

Our timeline highlights key initiatives that have shaped our organization and the communities we serve. Each project reflects our dedication to improving lives and advocating for change.

2015 – Childhood Cancer Campaign

Launched a dedicated, long-standing legacy project focused on pediatric health advocacy. This foundational campaign raised critical public awareness for early cancer detection while providing targeted financial and emotional support for vulnerable families.

2019 – 'Boyz II Men' Boot Camp Partnership

Served as Lead Coordinator and partner for a transformative juvenile justice and rehabilitation initiative in Ogun State. The program delivered highimpact mentorship, behavioral wellness workshops, and life-skills training for young offenders to prepare them for a purposeful return to society.

2025 – Menstrual Hygiene & Reproductive Health Day

Coordinated and spoke at primary school community initiatives across Lagos. This targeted outreach addressed period poverty and reproductive health by conducting safe-space workshops on body autonomy and distributing essential hygiene kits to young students.

2026 – 'SLW' National University Tour

The launch of the foundation's flagship national tour across major university campuses. This initiative bridges the gap to holistic youth wellbeing by bringing raw education, mental health awareness, emotional resilience training, and financial literacy directly to the next generation.
